RP BANS (now limited to 1 WEEK)

We think that many RP bans are not meant to be forever, and right now unless you unban someone, they will stay in your
ban list forever. Also you won't be able to unban them unless they are nearby.
Since we believe in people's good nature and willingness to forgive and move on, we will make the RP bans
expire after ONE WEEK. In the meantime, we hope that you have worked something out between the two of you.
After a week, the roleplay should resume to normal. And we hope in everybody's effort in making this possible.
If you want to keep the RP ban, you will have to resubmit it through the HUD and one more week will be added.

SKILLS UPDATE

The code for all the individual items and employment register have been updated. A few important info:
( 1 ) Some items, such as combat, psychic and justice ONLY works when your status allows you to.
For example, if you are owned by someone else, you won't be able to use these items.
If you are OOC, or Non-Combatant, or your Mental is zero, or your Physical is zero, a message will tell you
that you don't qualify.
( 2 ) Combat and Psychic items now attach by default on the Left Hand (as they should)
( 3 ) The values of Psychic, Combat, Armor have been increased. Check on them now.
( 4 ) The channel to type your message when you use the skill item is now random. Read the local message to find out
what to type in local chat.
( 5 ) The skills of Law and BioMech had been added (although these don't affect KOS).
( 6 ) The delay to take the items before they get deleted has been increased to 6 minutes (if it wasn't like that before).

All the individual info are now on the web. There is an individual link for each of them.

VARIOUS UPDATE AT KOS

( 1 ) Businesses now gain directly the profits from the card game (and of course losses).
So if you run a business with the card game, take a look at your cash till.
It is possible that you may get a negative balance (if you get really lucky players).

( 2 ) Archangel Azrael is back. After a long vacation, the guard of the catacombs, Archangel Azrael, is back at work.
He is in charge of keeping the intruders away. Watch out!

( 3 ) The KOS Dungeon is now shared by both Knights and Palace Guards. It is safezones for both of them.
Also the cell doors can be open by any of them. (suggested by Joris Hudson)

Most of the updates in the last days has been done mostly to adapt certain functions to Nomos.

More development done to adapt the game for Nomos.
A few minor changes for KOS too, such as 'Orgasmic' mental level is now 'Heightened'.
The update is optional for KoS, but you may want to get it anyway.

SGS Updates are available in the Game Room, at the Entrance. There is a HUD UPGRADE sign on the Wall.
Click on it and get the new upgrade.

Added new function: TRANSFER
You may now transfer money from your bank account to another player bank account.
This is the best and safest way to transfer large amount of money.

For those of you running a business at Ireem, you will notice an increase of revenue due to
the sales of the hejira and alcohol (G$2 goes to your cash till every time it is paid for).

DANCE MACHINE

I rewrote the script for the dance machine, and it is a now a little jewel of code. :)
Also we can run all the animations anywhere in the SIM. I am particularly proud of this, although
I am the only one to be able to enjoy the beauty of the code ;-)
Anyway the Arabesque, Bedu Camp, Palace and Eventus Isle at KoS have now the new Dance Jars.

CHANGING SPECIES

If you want to change species, you will *not* lose your scores or skills anymore.
However you will be charged G$ 350 into your bank account (if you don't have enough money there, you
will go in debt - negative balance).
The only data you will lose is your clan affiliation and/or your clan leadership.
Then you may form another clan within your new group.
To change species, there is a jar in the Game Room.
ps: The reason we apply a 'game fee' is to discourage the abuse of species switching
every 5 minutes.

The skills previously named as 'Law' has become 'Justice'.
A 'Law' skill was also added - different scope - to be used in Nomos.
This is just to explain if you see a 'Justice' skill in your profile instead of 'Law'.

RESULT OF VOTE

The result is:
- 80 people voted that it is okay to step in after a fight has begun
- 24 people voted that it is not okay.

Therefore, the majority of people believe that being able to help out their friends in a combat situation
is essential to game play in KOS. We agree that making friends and allies is an essential part of the game
and using their aid in combat is a main reason for these alliances.

However, there are still one or two points to be taken into consideration before making a simple yes or no
ruling on the subject.

So here are a few things to bear in mind before joining in on a combat situation that is already underway.

First the most obvious is to make sure that the people fighting want you to be involved, this might be a
personal fight between two players.

If you are within sight of a combat situation which involves a member of your own Clan or an Allied Clan then
the rule is that you can indeed join that combat.

As pointed out by many people, role play introductions to combat already underway are totally impractical
unless there is a natural pause in the fight. So if the combatant players are not Rping at the time you join the
fight, then you may join without need for lengthy introductions.

Players who are neither friends or allies of those fighting should ideally stay out of the fight, or at the very
least have a good RP reason as to why they are joining in. One such reason might be an RP call for help from
one of the combatants.

TPing directly into a fight is not allowed. If you receive an IM from a friend in trouble and a TP is involved then
it should be to a logical location, so that your appearance on the scene is “believable”

The main problem we have sought to solve is the situation where 2 players start a fight and neither call for help.
Then as the combat progresses one of the players decides they do not want to loose so they call in friends,
and in many cases this allows the loosing player to win the fight. This is basically cheating.

Unfortunately written rules are too easily broken and no matter how much we try, it is impossible to police
all situations. So we will introduced a mechanical method that was originated to solve another problem, that of
being attacked the moment you arrive in the sim, before you have had a chance to rez and prepare for any
kind of Rp leave alone combat.

So there will now be a 2 minute pause before the meter becomes active after a TP into the sim.
This will mean that you must judge a combat situation early to assess if you feel you might need assistance,
and call for that help before the combat goes to far. If not you may find your friends will not get there on time
to help you out.

SGS RELEASE 0.60

Added a 'Rezzing Mode', that it is a 2 minutes delay when you Teleport in the SIM, or in specific situations that
requires the meter to process some information, without interferance. During the Rezzing Mode, your meter
won't allow you to fight and/or to submit damage from a weapon, as well as not being able to be captured,
if you are a prey.
And some minor bugfixes.

SGS Updates are available in the Game Room, at the Entrance. There is a HUD UPGRADE sign on the Wall.
Click on it and get the new upgrade.

EJECT MEMBERS FROM CLANS

If you are a clan leader and you wish to eject a member from your clan, you can now login to your account
on the web, edit your clan and eject the member directly.
This works only when that player is not at the specific region (KOS for KOS clans, etc).

PALACE

As you know, the Palace group (SGS group) is not open enrollment and you can be part of it only by invite.
The Palace has also become Safezone for the Palace group. So, if you enter the Palace, be prepared to have a RP reason
to be there, or you can be kicked out, and/or incarcerated and/or fined.
Like other group camps with safezone enabled, you don't enter the enemy camp unless you have a proper RP reason
and/or you like the danger :)

If you wish to visit around - as visitor - please turn your meter to OOC, or wear an explorer tag. Thank you.

( 1 ) Someone reported a bug when transfering the ownership of a prisoner/slave.
I was able to reproduce the bug only once ;-/, but I think it is fixed in v 0.55
If you find any problem again, please let me know.

( 2 ) The updated employment register will only work with 0.56 and above.

EMPLOYMENT REGISTER UPGRADE
-------------------------------------------

The code has been rewritten from scratch. There are some major differences:
- No need to resign from a position if you change jobs. Simply signup for the new job
- You will not get fired if you don't show up at work for a week. This is mostly to simplify the back-end code
- There is an unlimited number of jobs, instead of limited. Just signup for the job that matters to your character.
- You will get paid for mastered skills at level 3 and get level 3 items
- All salaries are now at 70G$ Lev1, 80G$ Lev 2, 90G$ Lev 3
- Your meter will display the job title you signed up for the day (mastered skill as well)
- Animals are not allowed to signup for an employment
- It only works for version 0.56 and above

OOC-DRAMA DISRUPTS GAME/ROLEPLAY

We often get complaints from people who are forced to listen to long OOC arguments that take place in
the street in Ireem. This is not good. Even if the discussion keeps to the green OOC chat, it still disrupts
play and the feeling of all within earshot.

ABOUT DRAMA BOX

While considering this problem recently we jokingly though how we should have a box to put all the OOC
dramas in. And then we realised this might actually be a good solution to the problem.
So we give you the KOS OOC Drama Box.
Silly name, serious function.
From now on should you find yourself in an RP situation that has regressed beyond a few simple sentences
in OOC chat, then please use the TP to the drama box, and take all those involved or those wishing to continue
the debate with you. We Fully understand that these situations are unavoidable and can in fact be useful, but
they need to be carried out far from others who do not wish to hear them, others who are busy trying to RP
whilst wading through a sea of green type.
We hope you can see the important function of the box.

For those being punished by over long arguments in in the game part of the sim, please feel free to tell those
involved to use the box provided. Give them the Landmark!

VOTE ON A SIM RULE: IS IT OKAY TO STEP IN AFTER A FIGHT HAS BEGUN?

Recently we have had many complaints about what should happen once combat has commenced between two players.
One side of the arguments says that it is totally illogical for friends of the combating players not step in to help if they
can, even if they were not part of the RP leading up to the fight.
And conversely there are those who think that once combat has begun only those players who were in on the proceeding
RP should be allowed to fight, and all others must wait until it is over before getting involved.
Both sides are quite certain that their view is correct, as usual.
We can understand both sides of this argument.
But we must make a ruling one way or another. To this end we are asking for players to vote on the matter, and of course
if anyone wishes, they may also drop in a suggestion as to why they believe one side of the argument is better than the
other.
This could help us in making our decision.
Of course this situation does not occur so often in text combat so this vote is only aimed at meter combat.

or simply click on PROFILE on your HUD when you are at KOS, and you will be automatically logged in to your account.
There is a VOTE link on your account page.

SAFEZONE UPDATE

The safezones are revised :)
If you are using them for the right purpose, you will be in a safezone within 30 seconds.
If you are trying to escape from a fight by enabling a safezone, if your opponent clicks on them during the 30 secs
delay, the delay will be extended to 5 minutes.
Again, while the use of safezone is good to protect some areas from constant fights, running from fights is not
very honorable and is discouraged.

DUNGEON KEEPERS AND KNIGHTS AT KOS WILL BE REUNITED

Because in fact knights function both as Police and Dungeoneers, we believe that the two groups need to be reunited in only one group. The dungeon will also become safezones for knights. And current dungeon keepers will become knights. Dungeon Keepers clan will also become Knights clans. If you are more oriented in hanging out in the dungeon, you may create a clan that reflects that. Anyway, we need this for the new release below.

SGS RELEASE v 0.53

( 1) Added the 'owned by group' feature
If you get sentenced to go to prison, you will be owned by the Prison (not by an individual player) and sent to spend some time there.
When you are sentenced for a crime, you will not be able to simply ransom out or fall unconsciuos to escape from it.
Also while you are serving your sentence, everybody in the knight/police group will have meter control over your avatar.
KOS and Nomos have different way to manage prisoners, so we will explain later.

( 2 ) Updated the diseases.
Now if you are infected, you will lose 30 points of health every day, and 1 extra point of damage when you fight.

( 3 ) Players with 7 or less days of game will be reminded that we promote consensual roleplay and what to do if
they feel forced to do against their will. (Some people are new to SL or roleplay)

TO BUSINESS OWNERS (KOS, NOMOS, ETC)

General notes on the responsibilities of Renting Businesses

Renting a business is not just a means of getting paid. You can do this by simple camping work or
learning a skill.

We expect people who take on a rented business to be aware of what it is they are renting and to fully
take on the role that is associated with it.

If you take on a bar then you will be expected to run it like a real life bar and also hire bar staff and
possibly dancers to attract customers.
This is even more important should you take on ownership of a large night club, where you should
consider running small in-game events and promoting them to other players.

We can help out with this should you need temporary publicity such as posters put around the sim.
We cannot afford to have people camping ownership of important role play positions. So if we feel
that a player is not doing all they can to promote and manage their chosen business then we may
have to consider relieving them of the position.

Even smaller businesses like the sushi bars in Nomos are important places for people to meet and
discuss in character events. So an owner of such a place should always be around if they are
on line to act out their role.

So basically, please do not take on a business if you do not know or care about how to role play the position.

PLACES (WEB)

Please browse places and businesses on the web. We post official information about the
various locations of the SIM, with rental details if available, and a picture.

This will also help the new residents to familiarize with the different locations of the SIMs.

For Business Owners: please login to your account on the web to post business information , such as :
member/staff, job openings, list of services / product and their prices, opening hours.

SL GROUPS - PLEASE READ

Just a clarification about the creation of SL Groups related to any of our SIMs (Kingdom of Sand, Nomos,
and Golgothica).
In the past we didn't allow the creation of any group besides the official ones.
In time, we have changed our position about them, so people were able to create groups.
But ... there is always a 'but'...
We need to know what groups are formed out there, and what is their purpose.
So we can compile a list for each SIMs , and properly advertise them thru the players community.

A few simple rules:
- SL Groups should have a IC purpose
- SL Groups cannot violate any TOS rules from Linden Lab
- SL Groups should have a declared purpose within the roleplay game
- SL Groups may be closed enrollment, but if requested, we SIM owners should be allowed to be part of it.

SL Groups that are not published in our list are therefore to be considered illegal and
we may have to ask that they be discontinued.

So, please use the "Suggestion Form" to submit the following information:
- Name of the SL Group:
- Owners:
- Group Charter/Purpose:

LOCKED CAGES/CELLS

Slavers (both the port and the sear witc) , bedouins and knights have thei cages/cells locked, and
only a member of that group can open them.

SAFEZONES CHANGE

The safezones are not meant to protect fighters from losing a fight. Therefore, the delay has increased
from 15 seconds to 30 seconds.
Hopefully, this will discourage the use of safezones during fights.

MISCELLANEOUS AT KOS

( 1 ) The Brewer1 item at the Slaves Head Inn was having problem and was not initializing.
Now it is fixed.

(2) The KOS Dragon Katana had one prim of the wrong color, so now we upgraded it to version 0.41
Please get the upgrade from the UPGRADE sign and click on 'EVERYTHING', so you will receive the
fixed version.

(3) We have freebie clothes next to Game Room (Same clothes we had before).

(4) The bouncer is back at the Arabesque Cafe`.

NEW WEAPONS

( 1 ) Brown Bullwhip (special - capture only)
You may now capture preys by using this bullwhip instead of bumping them.
It only works on 'free' preys.
You will draw/swing it similar to a weapon, but it is not a weapon.
It doesn't inflict any damage.

( 2 ) KOS Katana : weapon type SWORD

( 3 ) KOS Dragon Katana: weapon type SWORD

RELEASE VERSION 0.52 (MINI-RELEASE)

Nothing exciting here, but there were minor bugfixes

Bugfix) You couldn't pay ransom if you only had15$
The ransom is 15$, but only if you had 16$+ you were able to pay and free yourself
This is fixed now.

Bugfix) Paying for ransom was not unfreezing you at the same time.
Now if you pay for ransom, you will also regain control of your avatar, if you are frozen.

Some mispelling fixed.

NEW WEAPONS

Okay, now they are really on sale :)

- Black BullWhip (for combat) : weapon type: WHIP

- Cat O'Nine Tails (for punishment): weapon type: CAT

Just a note about the cat. It has a very low damage, and it should not be used for combat.
It works on preys as well, captured or non-captured.
It works on non-combatant players.
And if you drop their health at zero, they will not become your slave/prisoners.

There was a weird delay with setups for new players and when you were trying to use
the emergency reset jar, to reset your species.
So I found the silly problem (mistyped word), that is now fixed in this version.

( 1. ) About Non-Combatant Mode

There were still a few doubts over the non-combatant mode from Sarra Ballinger.
So just to make it a little clearer:

If you are Non-Combatant:
As a non-combatant player you cannot use a scripted weapon, therefore all your Combats
take place through Role Play.
It is up to you to be sure other players in other combat modes are aware of this if you get
into a combat situation.
You understand that you cannot use non-combatant mode as a shield against other combat
modes.

( 2. ) Removed Capture Limits

There was a suggestion from Myrna Baxton to allow the pred to capture the same prey
more than once in a row. The initial limit was set to avoid griefing behaviour.

So now in this version, this limit is removed. You can be captured again and again by
the same pred.

If you are a prey, and you get chased over and over from the same pred and you don't
want to, please let them know, and if it doesn't work, add them to your RP Ban list.

( 3. ) Safezone Bug

Fixed the bug that the SafeZone didn't show up in your meter , even if you were
actually Safe.

The Library is now open for Business and Rental. I personally got at least 15 people asking

THE "SEA WITCH" IS BACK ON THE BAY!

The Pirate Boat is up for rent. 800G$ (game money) per week. Pirate/Slavers are preferred tenants.
If they cannot keep up with rent, the boat will become available to others.
The boat is safe zone for the group that is able to rent it.
ps: At the time you read this announcement, a weekly lease has been signed with Raiden.

We acknowledge that there are still doubts and misunderstanding over the combat rules.
In the attempt to simplify, we are releasing a new SGS version with your combat preference.

Just run Setup from your HUD, choose 'Combat Mode' and then one of these:
- Non-Combatant (default for new players)
- Default Combat Mode
- Warrior Mode

How to get one more star for social level:
1 STAR - by default
1 STAR - by posting your backstory/profile (attention: there is a minimal lenght AND
the profile needs to be updated once every 2 weeks, or you will temporary lose the star).
1 STAR - to be a clan leader with at least 3 more members besides you
1 STAR for each skill mastered through training
MAX TOTAL STARS = 6

Each star increases your max physical health of 8 points.
STAR 1 = max 100 ph health
STAR 2 = max 108 ph health
etc.

CLAN ADMINISTRATION

Many clan leaders added a password for new people to join their clan.
So now when you use the clan register book, you MUST type a password (case insensitive), if the clan is restricted access.
At the moment it is not possible for you to remove a clan member, but if you ask Kora nicely, she will do it for you - manually.

The main added feature of this release is the ability to use training mode. There is a simple gesture
in the folder, that you turn on and off by typing "/training" in local chat, once you
have activate the gesture.
When you are in Training Mode, your meter will become all white, and will display the Training Mode.
The weapons will inflict a damage not to your *real* physical health, but a separate health.
Please let's keep the training training within the arena. The arena has also a dispenser, that will allow you to
restore your health to 100% right away.
When someone wins, a message will be displayed in local chat.

Just because several of you asked for it, and it is fair, if you succeed in pickpocketing and you are in Non-Combatant or OOC status, you will become in Active Status (so vulnerable to damage).

If you are a prisoner or captive, and you succeed in pickpocketing, your ransom will automatically be paid for you, and YAY! you will regain your freedom. It is also a good alternative if you are broke and you really wish to be free again.

If you are OOC / Non-Combatant or a Prisoner / Captive and you wish to keep your status, it is bettery you pursue other activities.

Pickpocket is fair only if you are in a status to face consequences of your crime.

Explorer Tags

SIM RULE VOTE: CLANS WINS

Players have been expressed their vote over the SIM rule for the last 12 days. This is the result:

a) Individual Clan leaders and a possible Clan council: 57 VOTES
b) The election of one overall Group leader: 41 VOTES

We will setup a board for the most active clans in the game room, next to the clan register book.
Activity is based on number of members and overall presence at Kingdom of Sand.

Clan leaders will be able to post their rules and info on the web.
Some have requested to restrict the access to their clans....so we will probably take care of this too.

SALARIES UPDATE

The current daily salaries for skill training are:
70 SG$ for Level 1 Skill
85 SG$ for Level 2 Skill
100 SG$ for Level 3 Skill

TIP) SKILL: WHEN DO I COMPLETE THE TRAINING?

The training is complete when you have gained 42 days of training.
Before switching to a different skill, BE SURE you have completed it, by doing the following:

KoS Safezones

Safezones are returning to Kingdom of Sand, as planned.
However, there are some differences from the old ones, so please read here below:

1) Safezone is now a special plugin at KOS. It was actually not meant to use in all SGS sims
2) To save on performance, thery are not built inside the HUD, so the clicking of a prim is required.
3) The safezone objects are special balls that you will find in all the group camps and in other key areas.
4) Once you click on it, everybody within 15meters from it that qualify for safezone will also be tagged as "Safe".
5) If you are in a safezone, your meter will display "Safe".
6) If you are safe, then you don't get damage within safezones - but you will still be able to combat (if you are enabled for it). If you are a prey, you won't get captured.
7) So in practice, if you want to hold a meeting in your camp or have a little privacy with your slaves, then safezone is highly recommended. If someone from another group come and mess with you, then you can easily kill him.
8) Because you have to click on something, they may not work so well if you are trying to escape from losing at a fight. Well, we surely hope so.
9) You will need version 0.36 (coming out today) to be able to use safezones.
10) If you are OOC or Non-Combatant, your status won't change. You won't get damage if someone attacks you anyway.

Vote on a SIM rule - Group Leader Election

First we would just like to thank you for all your recent suggestions, sent through the new system. There are some great ideas there and many of them will eventually find their way into the system.

This note is about the many suggestions and complaints we have had about the method of choosing leaders in Groups.

When we first planned out the SGS game we were aware of how all voting systems are open to cheating no matter what you do to guard against it. So we simply decided to do away with overall group leaders, and instead work out a Clan system where each individual Clan leader is responsible for their own group. If these Clan leaders wanted to form some sort of council to determine general group matters, then that would be fine. And even if eventually the council decided that they trusted some individual enough to make them overall leader then that would also be good. But this leader would arise through time spent working in the group, and not imposed from outside by us or elected by some controversial election system.

At Kingdom of Sand we intended to keep group leader system by electing the clan leader with the most members. However, no matter what kind of election we run, it is impossible to guarantee that the election will be completely fair. It is hard to decide who is elegible to vote, and who is an ALT or not. One vote IN or OUT, and a different leader may win.

So we are tempted to apply the clan system to KOS as well, but we -Baal and Kora- feel that *YOU* should decide what you want and express a vote on this matter.

You will be voting for either

a. Individual Clan leaders and a possible Clan council, as explained above

or

b. The election of one overall Group leader

How to vote?

Get the most recent version of the HUD (0.35). Click on HELP -> VOTE where you will be prompted to express your vote.

About Food / Blood

A few things you may not know about it:
- if the food is served from a business, the owner (cash till) will receive 2$ from every item they sell.
- if you are in the wrong food type (blood instead of food and viceversa), you won't be able to buy it
- if you don't have money, you won't be able to buy it
- it will also check for your health before you pay for it, so you won't waste any money - hopefully ;-)

I am changing all food/blood scripts at KOS. There will be a 20 seconds delay between paying for it, and receiving the food. You will need to wait within 10 meters from it to be able to receive what you ordered, or your food may end up to be wasted.

Group Leader Elections are postponed

Several people are concerned about recent events that may compromise the fairness of the upcoming election. And I must agree. However I don't know how to do a quick fix . I was willing to show all the numbers on the web and I did, but I also see how this can be use in the wrong way.
I have always tried to have fair elections. If not, then we can just play dice and pick a random leader -- which may work too ;-). Anyway, we need to postpone elections. Sorry. I will send another notice soon.

We debated about sending this note as a little information is worse than no information in some situations. Anyway, this is for those who would like something to read while they wait.
For those who would rather just know how long the wait will be. Well, we are keeping a bit quiet because there are still some things to test so we can only say around a week, might be less might be a bit more. Warning, this note may leave you with more questions than answers, if so ask Baal, Kora is busy :)

What’s it all about.
Well first off, thanks for being patient and waiting as we get things finished here in KOS.
We figure you are probably wondering, what the heck is this thing that is taking so long, so here is an over long note just to give you a little idea of what’s coming very shortly, and we mean very shortly.
Our basic idea is to try to create a game structure that backs up, and hopefully provokes, role-play, something we can continualy improve and build upon over time.
Of course, a sim does not need a game system and meter at all and theoretically can run on pure RP alone.
We do not dispute this fact, but we wish to try to create something which provides players with some simple tasks that might make them feel motivated to do more than just hang around in a sim waiting for the next fight or using it as a pretty chat room.
On the other hand we also don't want the sim to fall into the clique mentality, where a few players dominate role play and dictate the rules of play to all others in the sim.
We believe that there are people out there who fall somewhere between the purist role player, who would rather die than put on a meter or HUD, and the all out run and gun player, who lives only to increase the kill score in their meter.
With this in mind we have tried to put together a system that mimics everyday mundane, but also essential, functions, such as eating drinking and states of mind.
Once you are setup in the system you have to move to survive, you have to do something, even if there is no one else in the Sim. Your life goes on from day to day, and you must take care of your chosen character or face certain consequences.
For instance, in KOS each day you need to eat, so each day you log in you loose a little health to reflect this daily need for food. Each day you will also loose a few mental health points; this tries to reflect our daily need, like hunger, for pleasant stimuli. This might seem a bit unreal until you think about how much time each day we all spend on doing things we hope will feed this need for pleasure, even simple things like listening to music or having a glass of wine or a can of beer.
You don’t have to deal with any of these scores immediately, a bit like in RL if you just worked and slept and did nothing else for a month. But after a while, you would begin to mentally feel the effects of the lack of pleasurable stimuli, and of course the lack of food. So in KOS you will need to eat to keep physically fit and seek out pleasurable pastimes to keep mentally fit. If you let your mental health drop too low you may well need to spend a while recovering on the mermaid island, listening to the soothing sounds of their songs. Some might want to move in permanently :)
You will of course need money to pay for your food and your pleasure. You can get this money by working at a mundane job, cleaning or sweeping the streets, but this will again effect your state of mind.
Maybe it would be better to learn a skill then. The skill system allows you to sell your skills for game money. So you could for instance learn the healing skill and other players would pay you to heal them, which healing will actually effect their physical score, same with mental healing. Of course you may also give Skills away for free if you wish.
Each person will be able to acquire up to 3 skills, but they must be learned one at a time.
Skills we already have include healing, Dancing, Prostitution, Musician, Combat, Brewing, Cooking etc etc. As I mentioned earlier, all skills will affect your physical mental and moral (see bellow) scores in some way.
Or maybe you want an easy life and decide to steal to get your money. This is also possible in KOS, but it brings us to another score you must keep an eye on, your Moral score. In KOS we believe in instant Karma, you pay morally for misdeeds. Actions considered to effect your moral standards drop your moral score. Who sets the morals? Well in KOS the Sultana sets the moral code for the citizens living in its city, and her Knights enforce them.
You can of course ignore your moral score completely, you are a bad guy or girl and you don’t care who knows it, well eventually the Knights will get to know and care, and at some point you will find yourself paying a heavy fine or even doing a spell breaking rocks on the Prison Island. Of course breaking the law is a great part of the game, you just have to be a bit cleverer to make sure you do not become a target for the authorities.
Maybe I should mention quickly the Clan system.
It works this way. If you think you can lead a Clan you can go to the clan register and register the name of your proposed Clan. This will register your Clan name which appears in your meter.
Being a Clan leader gives you some benefits such as a rise in social level, which in turn raises your max Physical health by 5 pointsb, but you do not get these benefits until you have at least 3 other members in your Clan. These members will themselves need to go to the register and sign in as members of your Clan. This will now give you the benefits of higher social level .
But these benefits will be taken away if anyone leaves your Clan leaving you with less than the required amount of members, so it pays to be a good leader.
Well that tells you a tiny bit about what’s coming and probably leaves you with more questions than you had before starting reading. But we just felt it would be nice to let you know a little about the structure. There is also the disease, yes have fun infecting all your friends :) a customizable combat system, a banking system, make it hard for those thieves, and a pretty HUD which will eventually have three skins that you can change as you flit from Sim to Sim, because the same System will be used in all our Sims from now on. So if you get tired of sunning yourself in KOS you can nip over to bleak old Nomos and hang out with the cyber punks in desolation city.
I guess this may well sound very complicated to some people. But you do not need to read the manual, just jump in and start playing and learn as you go. As I said at the beginning, the point is to try to mimic everyday life in the way that there are things you just have to deal with whether you want to or not in a day. It should be an aid to role play not a hindrance. In having to eat you will need to interact with others, in seeking some form of pleasure to deal with your depression you must again interact, by doing “good” and “bad” things others will need to interact with you. You can of course mechanically increase your scores by doing the minimum needed, but the RP opportunities are always there, and believe me the scores mean very little on their own except as instigators to more action and involvement in the life of the city.

There will be -NO KOS- for some hours, to allow us to move things around. WHen we are ready,we will send another notice to inform that the new KOS is open with the LM (if you haven't got it yet).

Preys in the new KOS

Many asked what happens to the Prey group in the new KOS.
Whoever is a free Prey in the old meter will likely become 'Citizen Prey' in the new one. It better identifies the fact that free preys are likely to live in the city and share common issues with citizens.
As for the meter, 'Prey' becomes more like a capture mode than a separate group. However, the SL group stays, and they can still be organized and structured. So in fact, at the end it is mostly a reclassification, not a major change.
Also, for those who lives in a predator camp because their Master/Mister is there, they will have the opportunity to become , for example, 'Bedouin Prey/Slave' and serve and be loyal to Bedouins. This is usually a better fit for those who maintain a long-term relationship with their DOM.
So Prey will become a group within groups.

Cross SIM Roleplay

Someone asked us if we have a cross-SIM roleplay going on. And the answer is no. We have never found a SIM that would actually fit with the story of Ireem. We use a different combat system. And overall we believe that there is also so much roleplay potential at Ireem itself.
So if/when you leave Ireem/KOS to play in other SIMs, just keep the roleplay story separate. If we ever find a good match in another SIM, then we will officially announce it.

The men in KoS have been sadly neglecting the female prey. They run, they jump and for what?? We have lost most of our female prey. They become predators or leave the sim entirely. The new female prey coming in, are disappointed and don't come back. Soon there will be no one to chase at all.

Men have been heard to say how easy the prey is here, so maybe its time to show them they have to work for it.

The men of KoS need to brush up on their rp skills. I propose that all the females put on all their sexiest silks for the day and come and go for a run!!!

Now before you freak out, there will be certain rules to be followed?

1 - Our Role Play limits will be followed.

2 - Only one prey can be captured at one time by each Predator so she gets his undivided attention.

3 - If you cap a prey, you have to role play with them a minimum of 1/2 hour!! you can keep them the whole time if you wish but do not go under 1/2 hour.

4 - No selling on the block. This will tie up far too much role play time.

5 - Knights are more than welcome to put predator huds on for the duration and show us their role play talent.

6 - If you do not want to role play with this person ask them for release. They are not allowed to hold you. We don't need the hasle of ransome money transferred.

7 - We will be doing this next Sunday,August 30 2009 from 11:00 am to 2 pm slt.

Yhe women of Ireem have united together. All factions have joined in. Slaves, undead, citizens, slavers, magi, djinn, knights, guards and bedu.

We have had 2 large scale activities in KoS so far.

The first was the sex wars. Women against the men. All that took part had postive feedback from both sides. The main objective of the sisterhood was reached, participation. We thank all that took part to make this a fun experience. Was there a winner and a loser??

The most recent activity was the potion the ladies smeared on the men's skin. This gave them pain in their groin when they had sexual thoughts. Now, with the raw sexuality dripping from the lovely ladies of Ireem the reaction was guaranteed.

The comments I received from both sides were they haven't laughed so hard in along time. :). The best thing to come out of this??? Seeing the talent and creativity along with great senses of humour.

There were two that surprised me the most. First Sylvia Tiraxibar. My Gods woman!!! You're sexual advancements floored me!!! Never knew you had it in you. Well done!!! Next was Duc Zenfold. I never knew you had so much talent hidden as I only see you chase and fight. Kudo's to you both!!!

The KoS Sisterhood applaud all the men that played with us. Without you it would not have gotten off the ground. Special thanks to the men I watched or heard reports on ~ Merlin, Raddick, Veni, Kanon, Krist, killer, Azrael, Devlin, Sulaman, Polo, RyanMichael, Ariberto, Addison, Raiden, Arden , Joris & Mal. If I left out anyone I appologize.

Kora has been told of the KoS Sisterhood and has joined us. I ask that any ladies that are not already with us, get a hold of KITTY Maggs or myself shevaunn Clarity to get in on the fun.

..Just a quick notice to let you know that if you do something wrong IC , you will pay consequences IC. Therefore if you are rebels and sneak in your camp illegally, you will regret this IC. I won't tell you what it is, but you won't be happy.
Example of IC punishments: being locked up in jail, getting all your dinars, your skills, forcing you to become a slave .... well... something like this... So it is just a warning .. don't go where you are not supposed to go.

Rebels of Ireem.
I have heard that there are a few rebels groups around. They have always been against the rules -- However, if you want them, they can only exist with these conditions:

a) NO OOC griefance of any kind. If you created a rebel group with your own OOC personal vendetta, you will find yourself booted from Ireem..

b) Rebel group will have to pack and leave their own original group and find hospitality and alliance with a leader of another group at Ireem. However, that leader may ask you to follow their rules. You need food and a place to stay, so you don't have much choice. If nobody gives you hospitality, the members of your group will all die of starvation, and that would be the end of the rebel group.
Since they have food and beds, The Ship Inn and Good Knight Inn may be used as your refuge, if the owner offers hospitality to you there.

c) You may keep your original tag (e.g. rebel knights may keep knight tag), as long as you don't use it to eat food or camp in the original camp group. If you go there, it is only to offer a truce or with an official proposition. If you are found camping or eating food there, taking advantage of the fact that your meter cannot get damage there, you will soon regret it.

Lag Monitoring

A few more things about combat rules

- If you go to some other group camp, DO NOT be surprised if you get attacked and killed.
- If you leave your AV unattended, you may get killed. Killing a camper is not an honorable thing to do - but it is not against the rules of the SIM. If you do it once , no big deal, but if you abuse of it and use to grief and annoy people, you will likely to be warned and will end up to take a forced vacation out of KOS.
